Nocturia affects many people and is more prevalent in people over 60 years old. Nocturia is the need to frequent the bathroom to urinate at night.
Nocturia can be very annoying for those affected and can lead to sleep deprivation.
Nocturia is diagnosed with getting up more than 3 times per night to empty the bladder.
Other medical conditions including kidney, bladder or/and urethra infection, enlarged prostate, cystocele, tumour in the bladder or any conditions affecting sphincter control can be symptoms of Nocturia.
Nocturia is very common amongst those with diabetes, pregnancy, and people taking diuretics.
Incostress and nocturia
Using IncoStress has in some patients reduced their episodes of waking up during the night to use the bathroom.
How it works
As the bladder fills during the night, if the sphincter muscle is lax or relaxed to the point where it allows a small trickle of urine to enter the urethra, this, in turn, starts the mechanics of contracting the detrusor muscle whereby the patient is woken with the urge to urinate.
IncoStress closes the urethra and prevents this mechanism to start during sleep, thus allowing the patient a restful night.
